THE WALKING DEAD "Opening Titles"

For more information, visit exmortisfilms.com.
"Making of" now available at artofthetitle.com/2010/10/29/the-walking-dead/
"We are arriving at that unique moment in time where the
term "fan-made" becomes moot. This is extraordinary."
- Damon Lindelof, Executive Producer, LOST
"Kudos to Daniel Kanemoto for his terrific fan version of
THE WALKING DEAD opening titles -- they rock big time!"
- Gale Anne Hurd, Producer, THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, THE ABYSS, THE WALKING DEAD
My favorite "exclusive" from this year's Comic-Con was a beautiful painting by legendary artist Drew Struzan, featuring a horde of zombies from THE WALKING DEAD. Frank Darabont is adapting the apocalyptic Image Comics book created by Robert Kirkman, and man, it looks really, really great.
As I was admiring Struzan's work of art, I wondered what the opening titles to this terrifying new television show might look like... so I animated a spec title sequence using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.
Just so there's no confusion, I'm not affiliated with the production in any way -- I'm simply a huge fan of both Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman, and this is my attempt at creating a cinematic introduction to one of the all time great "continuing stories of survival horror."
THE WALKING DEAD premieres on October 31st on AMC.

Black Ops 2: Screen Graphics

Client: Activision / Treyarch
Spov began working with Activision and Treyarch almost 18 months ago, conducting initial design research and producing early concept art and animation tests.
Current commercial and military technology prototypes were used for inspiration to develop screen graphics depicting how the world might be viewed in 2025. From this emerging technology, Spov created a technical vision through which the global narrative could unfold as the player tries to make sense of tangled events and prevent an emerging catastrophe, put in motion by the games calculating villain, Raul Menendez.

TemptingTypography

During the Graphic Design Festival Breda, Studio AIRPORT held a workshop called 'Tempting Typography'. This three-day-long workshop was based on window-typography.
Every participant joined a retailer on the St.Annastraat. On the basis of an assignment, the participants designed to reach a result which had to qualify and be able to stay on the shopping windows for a longer period of time.
The end result is a beautiful street with extraordinary handwritten window-typography.

The Egg Painter

The Easter tradition of dying eggs is practiced by people all over the world, but in Ciocanesti, a small village in Romania's northern region of Bukovina, this tradition has evolved into an art form.
Exquisitely hand painted with intricate traditional designs, each of these eggs takes hours to create and is among the things the people here are most proud of.
This docu-short offers a glimpse into the art and craft of egg painting.

Portrait of a Train Driver

A short film that takes a look at the life of a train driver.
I've always had an interest for trains but never got to know much about them or the people driving them. There's a lot of information on the subject out there, but being a visual person I wanted something more than poorly formatted walls of text. So I made this.

TOTAL RECALL HUD + GUI REEL / ASH THORP

In mid January of 2012 I was introduced to the very talented Patrick Tatopoulous who brought me on board as a freelance designer to build and develop graphics and user interface technology for the world of Total Recall. It was an amazing opportunity that I knew I couldn't pass up seeing as the original was a childhood favorite of mine. I soon discovered just how vast the world Len Wiseman and his team had built and knew right away I had lots of work ahead of myself. My total contribution on the project lasted about 5 months, it was an intense amount of work to be done about 200 shots in total made it to the final print of the film.
The reel above is a portion of the graphical elements I created for the film. All the approved designs where then taken to the animation stage by my very talented friend Ryan Cashman whom I worked very closely on during the remainder of our stay on the 5 month project. Our work was then sent to post production houses where the designs where composed into the final print of the film. A HUGE thank you to the enormously talented team on this project and for having us on board with you guys it was a great journey! CHEERS!
