Cartoon Network: Rebrand Reel [HD]

Competition brief for YCN (
My first attempt at character rigging.. Five network IDs (Float, Tower, Beam, Glide, Zoom) plus some examples of how the brand could extend to different broadcast elements such as 'up next' bumpers and lower thirds.

The spots are based around the characters developing fun scenarios for themselves with nothing but their imaginations and cardboard.. anything is possible! I remember making everything I could think of out of card and tape when I was young and think creativity should be encouraged from an early age and to use Cartoon Network as a catalyst is ideal.

Please take a look at the 'making of' video and visit the project blog to see in depth developments through the process of design, construction and animation:

All 3D work was completed in Cinema 4D and composited in After Effects.

Directed, animated and edited by: Matt Frodsham
Music by: Partners in Rhyme (
Images used to demonstrate lower third examples © Cartoon Network (

Making Of: Cartoon Network

Quick breakdown of design, production and post. There's no audio except for what was output with original motion tests (so watch out if your speakers are on loud half way through), but thought some might find it interesting to see everything thrown into a chunk of video. The blog has more indepth explanation but I figured this would be easier to flick through.

Let me know what you think - I'll try and do more comprehensive ones in future and explain what & why etc.

Cheers Matt
